A woman operating as a fake nurse on Vancouver Island received a global sentence of 18 months imprisonment after admitting to charges of fraud and impersonation. Charrybelle Talaue pleaded guilty on February 3rd to multiple counts, including three of fraud, two of impersonation, one of forgery, and five of breaching a release order.
With credit for time already served in pre-trial custody, Talaue is expected to serve about four additional months. A two-year probation order will follow her release. Court records indicate she was born in 1989 and is accused of using forged documents to secure a nursing position.
The Central Saanich Police Service indicated her offenses began in December 2023 and occurred throughout the Greater Victoria region. Allegations included the use of a forged marriage certificate, Alberta health card, Canadian citizenship certificate, and a name change affidavit, while impersonating Yves Anglehart.
Talaue was never registered as a nurse in British Columbia. Advisories were issued in 2023 by the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives and the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta, warning that she might be posing as a nurse to gain employment in hospitals.
