Fake Drugs Racket Busted: Pharmacist Kingpin Arrested

In a significant development concerning an illegal pharmaceutical network operating in Karnataka, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted a raid on Krupa Health Care at Minerva Circle. This operation led to the seizure of counterfeit medicines, financial records, and critical supply documents. The proprietor of the establishment, licensed pharmacist Veeresh Kumar, was detained during the raid. Investigators have identified Kumar as the central figure allegedly orchestrating the widespread distribution of fake, life-saving medications.

The recent crackdown follows an earlier raid conducted last month on a hidden stockhouse in Tavarekere, Magadi, which initially brought the spurious drug network to light. Evidence suggests that Kumar exploited his professional standing as a licensed pharmacist, having established Krupa Health Care in 2021, to create a legitimate facade for his illicit trafficking of counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

Kumar reportedly supplied mislabeled and substandard medications, including counterfeit versions of popular Pfizer products, to more than 90 hospitals and clinics throughout Bengaluru and its surrounding areas. The illicit operation's reach extended beyond Karnataka, with established supply chains operating in Maharashtra and Gujarat. To manage this expansive network, Kumar allegedly employed over 15 medical representatives tasked with marketing and directly distributing the counterfeit drugs to medical centers and end-buyers.
