Summary
- A 26-year-old man impersonated a doctor at KGMU, Lucknow.
- He allegedly defrauded patients and students for three years.
- The accused used forged documents and fake organizations to deceive.

Authorities at King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow apprehended 26-year-old Hassam Ahmad on Tuesday, accusing him of impersonating a doctor. Ahmad allegedly operated for three years, approaching medical students and patients with false claims and forged documents. He was reportedly collecting money by posing as a member of a fake outfit called 'Cardio Seva Sansthan' and promising facilitation of treatment.
Officials initiated an inquiry after receiving intelligence about an impersonator on campus. Ahmad was intercepted near the surgery department after being tracked to a medical camp outside the campus where some students were present. He allegedly wore a doctor's coat and claimed connections with university staff and multiple departments, though these associations are under verification.
Police registered an FIR at Chowk police station for cheating and forgery. Forged letters bearing fabricated signatures and a fake KGMU letterhead were recovered. Preliminary questioning revealed Ahmad had studied up to Class 12 and ran a social service organization conducting medical camps. He could not substantiate his professional associations or explain his access to students. The probe is ongoing, examining individuals named by the accused and scrutinizing financial transactions.
