4 Sep
Summary
- Ebert faces attempted murder charges for allegedly running over a man.
- A competency evaluation was ordered for the ex-musician's trial.
- Ebert claims self-defense against the charges.

Brady Ebert, formerly of the band Turnstile, is facing an attempted first-degree murder trial in Maryland. The 33-year-old musician was arrested in March and accused of intentionally hitting 79-year-old William Yates, the father of his ex-bandmate Brendan Yates, with a vehicle. The incident allegedly caused severe trauma to Mr. Yates' legs.
Ebert was ordered by a judge to undergo a competency evaluation for the trial, a move his attorney initially requested due to concerns about his mental state. However, Ebert has contested this, declaring himself competent and calling the police report a fabrication. He has also expressed a desire to change attorneys.
The band Turnstile released a statement confirming they had severed ties with Ebert in 2022 due to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior. They detailed that after exhausting resources to help him, a boundary was set when threats of violence began, culminating in this alleged attack.
Ebert has consistently claimed self-defense, stating, "He attacked me, I did nothing to him." If convicted of attempted first-degree murder, he faces a potential life sentence. His status hearing is scheduled for September 22.
