Derek Feast, a former police officer and Scout leader, has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for indecent assaults against four teenage boys. The offenses occurred between 1972 and 1991 in Hertfordshire and Norfolk. Feast was convicted on 17 counts of indecent assault and gross indecency at St Albans Crown Court on February 17th.
During the 1970s and early 1980s, Feast abused three victims while volunteering with the Scouts and serving as a police officer in Hertfordshire. A fourth victim was assaulted in Norfolk in 1991 when Feast was working in a newsagent's shop. The youngest victim was between 12 and 13 years old at the time of the assaults.
Investigators from Hertfordshire Police interviewed Feast in July 2024, leading to his conviction. He denied some allegations, claiming one encounter was consensual. Feast will serve half of his 12-year sentence before being considered for release on license and has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Authorities emphasized their commitment to pursuing justice for victims, regardless of when the crimes occurred.
