Ex-Officer Accused of Rape Amid 'Obsessive' Control

Craig Winston, a former student officer with Gloucestershire Police, is on trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court facing multiple serious charges. He is accused of raping one woman and sexually assaulting another, with allegations that these acts occurred while the victims were asleep or heavily intoxicated. Prosecutors described Winston as a manipulative individual with obsessive tendencies.

The court heard details of his alleged behaviour, including demands for specific sexual acts and the discovery of concerning internet searches on his phone, such as 'sex with sleeping women'. One complainant reportedly awoke to find Winston touching her sexually. Another alleged he referred to her as a 'sex slave' and subjected her to unwanted sexual acts.

Further charges against Winston include controlling or coercive behaviour, perverting the course of justice, and stalking. He is also accused of attempting to prevent one of the complainants from reporting the incidents to the police and engaging in stalking behaviour, despite being on bail. The trial is ongoing.
