A retired NYPD detective faces murder charges in connection with a fatal road rage incident on the George Washington Bridge. Victor Romero, 62, was arrested on Wednesday and accused of fatally shooting Koran Irvine, 46, of Valley Cottage, New York.
Irvine was discovered unresponsive in his vehicle on the New Jersey-bound upper level of the bridge Tuesday evening, shortly after 7 p.m. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased following the discovery of a gunshot wound.
Romero, a Haverstraw resident who retired from the NYPD in 2001, was apprehended at a police precinct. The incident led to the closure of bridge lanes for approximately five hours.
