A former Missouri state corrections and parole officer faces charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping following the discovery of his wife's death. Jonathan G. Houston, 44, was arrested after one of his seven children made a whispered 911 call on October 4, 2026, reporting that her father was holding them captive and had abused them for five years.
Responding officers traced the call to a Kingdom City, Missouri hotel. Once separated from Houston, a daughter revealed that her father had killed her mother in a hotel room on December 1, 2025. The probable cause statement details that Houston strangled his wife of 17 years while their children were in the room.
Investigators allege Houston forced two older children to assist in the attack, with one instructed to scald the victim and another to cover her mouth. He reportedly confessed to the killing, citing fear of losing custody. The victim's body was allegedly disposed of in a dumpster on the hotel grounds. All seven children were taken into protective custody.
