8 Jan

- Evidence included zip ties purchased by the ex-husband.
- Ex-husband faked cancer diagnosis to manipulate ex-wife.

Morgan Metzer endured years of abuse from her ex-husband, Rodney Metzer, before divorcing him in December 2020. Just weeks later, on New Year's Day 2021, Morgan was attacked in her home by a masked intruder. The assailant sexually assaulted her and left her bound before fleeing.
Rodney arrived shortly after, presenting himself as a rescuer. However, Morgan quickly suspected him, recognizing familiar traits of her abuser. Investigators uncovered overwhelming evidence, including zip ties matching those used in the attack, purchased by Rodney days earlier. His internet search history also revealed searches related to manipulating voice sounds and faking cancer diagnoses.
Rodney had previously manipulated Morgan by faking a pancreatic cancer diagnosis to move back in with her post-divorce. He pleaded guilty to 14 counts and was sentenced on August 4, 2021, to 25 years in prison and 45 years of probation. Morgan now works to raise awareness for victims of domestic violence.
