Former India cricketer Jacob Martin has been apprehended by Akota police following an alleged drunk driving incident early Monday. The 52-year-old former Baroda Ranji captain is accused of losing control of his SUV near Malhar Point around 2:30 AM, crashing into three parked cars. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
This incident marks the third occasion Martin has been booked for a liquor-related offense. He was previously arrested in 2013 for consuming liquor with friends and had another offense registered by Raopura police for drinking alcohol years prior. Martin was also involved in a human trafficking case in 2011.
Martin, a right-handed batsman, played 10 one-day internationals and 138 first-class matches during his career. He had previously survived a near-fatal accident in 2019 after a fall from his two-wheeler in 2018.
