In Westchester County, New York, Justin Bartley, 32, faces murder charges for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend, Roseberline Phillippe, to death. The district attorney announced Bartley is charged with second-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child, as their 2-year-old son was reportedly present during the fatal attack at an Elmsford motel. Bartley has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The victim's body was discovered in a motel room in early November. Prosecutors noted Bartley was on probation at the time of the alleged crime, having previously pleaded guilty to weapon possession and driving while intoxicated charges in 2022. He is currently held without bail pending his next court appearance in March 2026.
Phillippe's family is mourning her loss, describing her as a devoted mother and friend. A GoFundMe has been established to help with funeral expenses and to provide support for her young son, who will now grow up without his mother. Temporary orders of protection have been issued for the victim's family.
