Gunman Opens Fire, Then Dies in Evergreen Medical Office

On Thursday afternoon, deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the CommonSpirit Primary Care office in Evergreen. Upon arrival, they discovered a male suspect, identified as 62-year-old Lance Black, armed with a shotgun.
Despite attempts to de-escalate, Black, a former patient of the facility, used his shotgun to end his own life. He had fired approximately 19 rounds, damaging equipment, doors, and walls within the office. Thankfully, no individuals sustained any injuries during the event.
Investigators from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office have confirmed that Black acted alone and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Resources are available for those affected, including victim advocates and the Evergreen Resiliency Center.
