Etawah police successfully apprehended a prominent history-sheeter following a tense encounter late Sunday evening. The suspect, identified as Praveen alias Mangal Yadav, was shot in the right leg by police after he opened fire on them during a vehicle pursuit near the Sunwarsha underpass.
The incident began when Bakewar police attempted to stop a speeding car. The occupants fired at officers, leading to a chase that ended near Urain village. Cornered, the suspects fired again, prompting police to return fire in self-defense, resulting in Yadav's injury.
Authorities seized a 315 bore rifle, live and spent cartridges, a mobile phone, and the Hyundai Accent car. Yadav faces multiple charges, with a criminal record detailing 24 cases including robbery, dacoity, and attempted murder. His accomplice managed to flee under the cover of night.
