31 Jan
Summary
- Bleed kits will equip all 50 fire stations in Essex.
- The initiative honors murdered teenager Liam Taylor, 19.
- Liam's grandmother founded a legacy, donating 675 kits.

In a powerful tribute to her murdered grandson, Liam Taylor, who was 19 when he was fatally stabbed in January 2020, Julie Taylor has secured funding to install bleed kits at every fire station across Essex. This initiative will see all 50 fire stations equipped with the life-saving equipment.
Julie Taylor established The Liam Taylor Legacy foundation, which has since donated 675 bleed kits to numerous organizations and venues. These kits, containing essential trauma supplies, have reportedly helped save 16 lives, with four incidents deemed potentially fatal without the readily available equipment. The foundation's efforts have garnered significant recognition, including a British Empire Medal.
Essex County Council provided the funding for this county-wide rollout. Deputy leader Louise McKinlay lauded Julie's dedication, stating her commitment to creating a lasting legacy in Liam's name is genuine. The announcement coincides with a reported 23% year-on-year decrease in fatal knife crimes, suggesting a positive shift in efforts to combat such violence.
