Essex Council Halts Suspected Illegal Site

Harlow Council has taken decisive action by securing a High Court injunction to stop what is believed to be an unauthorised travellers' site. The development, located at Barrows Farm Cottage in Essex, was brought to the council's attention on Thursday. Upon investigation, council officials discovered construction work underway that lacked the required planning permission, seemingly intended for caravan use.

Council leader Dan Swords declared a zero-tolerance policy for unauthorised development, underscoring the authority's swift response. The injunction mandates the immediate cessation of all construction activities. Swords stressed that the legal planning process is crucial for community protection and must be adhered to by all. He noted that no permission was sought or granted, and no engagement occurred with the council regarding the project, signalling a firm stance against circumventing legal procedures.
