Epstein's Cellmate: "He Tried to Hang Himself Twice"
16 Jun
Summary
- Former cellmate witnessed Epstein's suicide attempts twice.
- Guards reportedly dismissed concerns about Epstein's well-being.
- A note found indicated Epstein wished to control his final moments.

Jeffrey Epstein expressed and acted on desires to end his life in the weeks before his death, according to a former cellmate.
Nicholas Tartaglione, who was serving multiple life sentences, stated he awoke twice to find Epstein attempting suicide while they shared a cell. Tartaglione reported witnessing Epstein trying to tie a sheet to a window grate and later found a noose hidden under his mattress. He claims prison guards dismissed these incidents with laughter.
Following a second apparent suicide attempt, Tartaglione discovered a note from Epstein written in a book. The note read, "They investigated me for month -- Found NOTHING!!! It is a treat to be able to choose one's time to say goodbye. Watcha want me to do -- Bust out cryin!! NO FUN -- NOT WORTH IT!!" Tartaglione's lawyers informed Epstein's legal team and prison staff about the note.
Later, another cellmate, Efrain Reyes, also found Epstein fashioning a cord from sheets and flushed it. Reyes warned guards about Epstein being alone after his transfer, but protocol was not followed, and Epstein died the next morning. Video footage from that night reportedly still suggests Epstein was solely responsible for his death.
