11 Jul
Summary
- Software engineer arrested for wife's suspicious death.
- Victim found naked and dead in Uttarakhand homestay.
- Magisterial inquiry ordered after unclear post-mortem results.

Dehradun police have apprehended software engineer Sri Charan Somayajula in connection with the death of his wife, Parupudi Radha Gayatri, aged 27. Gayatri was discovered deceased on June 15 at a homestay situated on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road in Uttarakhand, while vacationing with her husband. Initially claiming innocence, Charan Somayajula absconded after a case was registered against him and was later arrested by Dehradun police. He is currently in 14 days judicial custody.
The circumstances surrounding Gayatri's death are suspicious, particularly as the post-mortem examination report did not definitively establish the cause. This led the Dehradun district administration to order a magisterial inquiry. The victim's parents have alleged that Somayajula murdered their daughter and are demanding a thorough investigation. The couple had traveled from Delhi to Rishikesh on June 13 and checked into the homestay on June 14. Gayatri was found the following day, with evidence of bloodstains on the bedsheet and liquor bottles recovered from the scene.
