Elmwood Park police officers apprehended two suspects after an attempted burglary at Phil's Sports Bar on Harlem Avenue. The incident began around 4:49 a.m. when officers responded to a silent alarm. Authorities noted suspicious vehicles matching those involved in a prior burglary. Three individuals were present when police arrived. As they attempted to flee, a pursuit ensued. One vehicle, an Alfa Romeo, collided with an Elmwood Park police car attempting to block its escape, but managed to get away. Police later stopped the Alfa Romeo and arrested its driver. The other two suspects fled on foot. One was apprehended in a backyard on Neva Avenue. Both arrested individuals received hospital treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. A second vehicle, a Honda Accord, was also involved in the chase but escaped.
