A man in his 70s sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Alston, Lancashire. The incident occurred on Preston Road, near the junction with Pinfold Lane, at approximately 01:33 GMT on Tuesday. The driver of the Nissan Serena involved failed to stop at the scene.
Following an immediate investigation, police located and arrested a 37-year-old man in the Preston area. He has been taken into custody on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop.
Sgt Paul McCurrie stated that their thoughts are with the injured man as he receives hospital treatment. An investigation into the cause of the collision, which resulted in significant injuries, was launched immediately. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant footage to contact them.
