Elderly Man Murders Son, Injures Daughter-in-Law Over Neglect

On October 20th, 2025, a 68-year-old man from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, committed a tragic act of violence against his own family. Brijveer Sehrawat, the accused, used a licensed 12-bore gun to shoot and kill his 42-year-old son, Robin Sehrawat, and critically injure his 38-year-old daughter-in-law, Ravita Devi.

The incident occurred after a heated argument between Brijveer and his son. According to the police, Brijveer had been feeling neglected at home since the death of his wife over five years ago. He allegedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the care he was receiving from his son, which ultimately led to the violent confrontation.

Robin, a farmer, was hit in the stomach during the shooting and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Ravita suffered a gunshot wound in her arm and is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital. Brijveer has been taken into custody, and the weapon used in the crime has been seized by the authorities.

The case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, and the investigation is ongoing. The tragic incident has left the family and the local community in Muzaffarnagar deeply shaken.
