Gajner Market: Man Fatally Assaulted for Objecting to Abuse

An elderly man, identified as Chandrapal (75), tragically passed away in Kanpur Dehat following an alleged assault in the Ninaya village market. The incident unfolded on Tuesday when Chandrapal reportedly intervened after witnessing or experiencing abuse, leading to a dispute.
Eyewitnesses, including his wife Ramjanki, stated that Chandrapal was beaten with sticks by a group of villagers. He was initially taken to the Community Health Centre in Gajner, where he received treatment for what were described as minor injuries before being sent home.
However, Chandrapal's condition deteriorated significantly on Wednesday afternoon, and he succumbed to his injuries. His son filed a formal complaint with the police, naming five individuals as suspects. The police have registered a case under sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and assault, and an active search is underway for the accused.
