Summary
- Chargesheet of nearly 5,000 pages filed against 15 accused.

- Assisted Reproductive Technology Act limits donation to once in a lifetime.

In a significant development, the Badlapur police have completed their investigation into an illegal human egg donation racket. A comprehensive chargesheet, spanning nearly 5,000 pages, was filed before the Ulhasnagar court on Tuesday. Fifteen individuals have been booked, with eight already arrested for their alleged direct involvement.
The racket, which was busted in February, was reportedly run by Nashik-based Malti IVF Centre. The center allegedly operated an illegal IVF facility in Thane, offering victims between ₹25,000 and ₹30,000 for each egg donation cycle. This practice violates the Assisted Reproductive Technology Act, which permits human egg donation only once in a lifetime.
Further investigation revealed that a nurse, Sonal Grewal, allegedly conducted medical scans without proper prescriptions. Videos of these scans were reportedly shared with agents in various states for recipient matching. Most of the women exploited were from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, seeking income through these illegal means.
