Witnesses Describe Horrific Belt Attack During Murder Trial

The murder trial of White Mngope Nganika, 25, commenced this week in Edmonton. Nganika faces a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the May 2024 death of Michal Sadomski, 44. He has entered a plea of not guilty.
Witnesses provided emotional testimony, describing how they observed a man repeatedly strike Sadomski with a belt on a sidewalk. One witness, Ray Alan Albiston, reported hearing loud snapping sounds as the belt hit the victim, who lay motionless. He noted the victim did not move throughout the assault.
Sabrina Lynn Henderson, another witness, corroborated these accounts, stating she screamed at the attacker to stop. She described the victim as appearing lifeless. After the assault, Nganika reportedly dropped the belt on Sadomski's body and walked away casually.
Const. Quinton Alexander Schulz, the first officer on scene, found Sadomski bleeding heavily and struggling to breathe. He attempted CPR before emergency services arrived. Sadomski was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The trial is scheduled to continue.
