Shane had been shot near the old Boyle Street Community Services location and managed to reach the shelter, where he spent 27 hours before staff noticed he was unresponsive.
The legal proceedings concluded with Harrison Belanger, 26, convicted of second-degree murder in Shane's death. Court footage showed Belanger attempting to take something from Shane, leading to a fatal altercation. Gerald Bakewell continues to seek answers from the Hope Mission regarding why no one assisted his son.
