Historic Greens Ripped Up by Masked E-bikers
8 Jan
Summary
- E-bike riders caused criminal damage to golf greens.
- TikTok videos showed masked youths damaging the course.
- The club is accessible via a public bridleway.

High Post Golf Club, a historic course laid out by JH Taylor and beloved by commentator Peter Alliss, has suffered extensive damage due to e-bike riding yobs. On December 6, 2025, masked individuals on motocross bikes were seen performing "doughnuts" on the greens, gouging a one-and-a-half foot trench into one of them and leaving visible tyre marks across five greens. The culprits also stole golf flags.
Footage shared on TikTok showed mud flying as the youths rode in circles, with one clip captioned "how we roll" featuring them waving stolen flags. While the club lacks on-site CCTV, manager Andy Rideout noted the timing of the incidents coincided with e-bike reports and similar damage at Salisbury Golf Centre, suggesting a link. He highlighted that a public bridleway running alongside three holes makes restricting access difficult due to legal requirements for walkers and cyclists.
Wiltshire Police are investigating the criminal damage reported to have occurred overnight on December 6, 2025. The act of churning up a green, known as 'ripping,' involves spinning the bike's rear wheel to dig into the earth. The club is exploring mitigation options, but acknowledges that catching the perpetrators is unlikely.
