Customs Probe Intensifies: Dulquer Salmaan Faces Fresh Questions

The Customs Preventive Department is intensifying its investigation into an alleged luxury car smuggling network, with actor Dulquer Salmaan facing further scrutiny. This inquiry is part of "Operation Numkhor," a broader initiative targeting suspected tax evasion and illegal vehicle imports through the Bhutan border. Officials are preparing to question Salmaan again after reviewing his earlier statements.

Salmaan has consistently stated that he acquired his luxury vehicles legally from previous owners within India, using valid documentation and banking transactions. Despite his assertions, the Customs Department previously seized four luxury vehicles associated with him, including a Land Rover Defender and several Nissan models. These vehicles were subsequently released to the actor by a court order upon furnishing a substantial bank guarantee.

The wider "Operation Numkhor" investigation aims to dismantle a suspected network accused of using forged documents to import vehicles and evade taxes. This probe spans multiple Indian states, including Kerala, Assam, and Rajasthan, as authorities work to uncover details of the alleged smuggling ring.
