DUI Driver Hits 96 MPH in 35 Zone, Crashes into Drug Compound

On February 16, a driver was observed traveling at an excessive speed of 96 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone. Deputies from the Thurston County Sheriff's Office attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 8:15 p.m. in the East Olympia area.
The suspect refused to stop and instead sped away, eventually entering an area known to law enforcement as a drug compound. Upon stopping, the individual exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
A K9 unit named Asher was deployed and successfully apprehended the suspect before deputies could take him into custody. During the arrest, the suspect accidentally kicked the K9. A significant amount of drugs was found in the suspect's vehicle.
The individual was arrested and booked into the Thurston County Jail. Charges against him include driving under the influence, attempting to elude authorities, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
