Summary
- A drug dealer's selfie in a dentist's chair led police to his arrest.
- Facial recognition technology identified the dealer from the photo.
- The dealer and an associate were jailed for supplying cocaine and cannabis.

A drug dealer's pride in his new dental work led to his downfall. Coran Davies, 23, sent a selfie to a friend while in a dentist's chair, showcasing his recently acquired "Turkey teeth." Unbeknownst to Davies, his friend's mobile phone was already under police scrutiny as part of an ongoing drug investigation.
Detectives utilized retrospective facial recognition technology on the image, directly linking it to Davies. This discovery was made months after a prior police raid in Treherbert, Wales, uncovered cocaine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia. In March 2025, officers spotted Davies driving a car with Dale Howell, 25, as a passenger.
Both men, from Porth, were arrested and found to be in possession of cocaine, cannabis, and a significant amount of cash. On April 9, 2026, they appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, having pleaded guilty to drug supply offenses and acquiring criminal property. Davies received a 48-month prison sentence, while Howell was sentenced to 36 months.
