Danielle Henry has been sentenced to up to 5½ years in prison for the death of Ibrahim Diakite. The sentence was handed down after Henry pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide. The incident occurred in October 2025, when Henry, after shoplifting and driving a stolen vehicle, crashed into Diakite in a grocery store parking lot in Westerville. Authorities reported that Henry fled the scene.
Diakite, a DoorDash driver, pursued Henry and stopped his vehicle in front of hers at a stoplight, attempting to prevent her escape. He then climbed onto the hood of Henry's car. Henry accelerated and swerved, causing Diakite to fall underneath and be dragged an estimated 300 to 600 feet before being run over. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
At the time of the incident, Henry had active warrants for theft, receiving stolen property, and failure to comply with police. Westerville Police Chief Holly Murchland stated Henry demonstrated a willingness to avoid apprehension and posed a danger to the community. Henry must serve a minimum of four years.
