A man from Delhi has been apprehended by Noida police for the murder of a woman, identified as Kavita. She was found deceased on a service road in Sector 129, Noida, with police determining she had been strangled with her scarf. The accused, Vicky Mathur, a car driver, reportedly knew Kavita for a short period.
The motive for the murder appears to be a dispute over marriage and a significant sum of money. Kavita had allegedly offered Mathur Rs 3.5 lakh if he married her, but he refused, citing his existing marriage. An altercation ensued, during which Mathur allegedly used Kavita's scarf to strangle her.
Following the crime, which police state occurred in Delhi, Mathur allegedly took Kavita's cash and bag and transported her body to Noida, leaving it on the service road. He then returned to Delhi. Police initiated an investigation after receiving information about the body on March 2. They identified Kavita through her belongings and informed her family.
Based on a complaint from Kavita's husband, a case was registered, leading to Mathur's arrest. Investigators recovered the car used in the crime and Rs 3.02 lakh in cash from his possession, indicating the financial aspect of the dispute.
