Drink Driver Jailed After Killing Teen Motorcyclist

A motorist, Danny Francis, 29, has received a seven-year prison sentence for causing the death of a 17-year-old motorcyclist. The fatal collision occurred on 1 October 2023, near Rowton Castle in Shropshire. Francis was found to be over the drink-drive limit at the time of the incident.
The crash not only resulted in the death of young Ben Worrall but also caused life-changing injuries to another motorcyclist. Francis's vehicle, a Range Rover, struck both individuals. He later admitted to several charges, including causing death by careless driving while intoxicated.
Further charges accepted by the court included causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and failing to report the collision. Francis also pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice. He was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court in August.
