Drakeo the Ruler Settlement Reached in Fatal Stabbing Case
15 Oct
Summary
- Drakeo the Ruler's mother settled a lawsuit regarding his fatal stabbing.
- The settlement with Live Nation and others remains conditional.
- Other wrongful death claims on behalf of his son are still pending.

The mother of slain rapper Drakeo the Ruler has secured a settlement with Live Nation and several other entities involved in the 2021 fatal stabbing. This agreement, filed in court, has undisclosed terms and is contingent upon the fulfillment of specific conditions within 45 days. Drakeo, legally known as Darrell Caldwell, was tragically killed backstage at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. music festival on December 18, 2021.
Drakeo's mother, Darrylene Corniel, had sued, alleging her son was attacked by a mob allowed into a secured backstage area. The lawsuit named companies including C3 Presents and Hollywood Elite Security. Although the investigation by the California Highway Patrol led to a search warrant and detention of rapper YG in July, no arrests were made. YG has not been identified as a suspect by authorities.
This settlement excludes ongoing wrongful death claims filed for Drakeo's young son, Caiden Caldwell, and negligence claims from his brother and others present. These consolidated cases are scheduled for trial next month in Los Angeles, with testimony from a bodyguard identifying YG as being involved in the backstage altercation and allegedly producing a knife.
