Summary
- Live Nation settles claims over Drakeo the Ruler's death.
- Rapper died from stab wounds backstage in 2021.
- A parallel lawsuit by Drakeo's brother is still pending.

Live Nation and its subsidiary C3 Presents have reached a legal settlement with the estate of rapper Drakeo the Ruler. The estate, managed by the rapper's mother, Darrylene Corniel, resolved all remaining negligence claims stemming from his fatal backstage stabbing in December 2021. This incident occurred at the Once Upon a Time in LA festival in Los Angeles.
Parallel claims have also been settled by Drakeo's son, Caiden Caldwell, though the specific terms of these resolutions have not been publicly disclosed. A representative for Live Nation declined to comment on the settlements.
However, a third lawsuit concerning Drakeo's death is still pending. This case, brought by the rapper's brother, Devante Caldwell, and members of his entourage, targets Live Nation and other festival-involved companies for allegedly failing to provide adequate security. This trial is slated to commence on November 30.
Drakeo the Ruler, whose legal name was Darrell Caldwell, died of stab wounds following an attack backstage at L.A.'s BMO Stadium. No arrests or charges have been made to date in connection with the murder. Initial claims against an LLC controlled by Snoop Dogg, who was involved in organizing and promoting the festival, were later dropped.
