A brazen delivery driver for DPD has been dismissed after allegedly pocketing a £1,264 iPhone instead of delivering it. The incident occurred when customer Samuel Taylor, an apprentice mechanic, was out at work. He received confirmation of delivery, including a photo, but found no package at his Rochdale home.
Upon reviewing his home security footage, Taylor observed the DPD driver handling the parcel, then returning to his van with it. Despite Taylor's complaint to DPD, they initially claimed the item was delivered and directed him to the seller. Taylor then escalated the matter to the police and shared the video evidence on social media.
DPD has since confirmed the driver's removal from the business, stating they have a zero-tolerance policy for such actions and have apologized to Taylor. The seller, Giffgaff, has also refunded Taylor's initial deposit while investigating the proof of delivery, which was found non-compliant.
