- Alleged motive linked to stolen dog and money, court heard.

Ross Judd, 35, pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He is accused of killing Andrew Gunn, 50, and his pregnant partner Athena Georgopoulos, 39, in a targeted attack at their Mount Waverley home on August 11, 2025.
Police discovered the couple deceased after neighbours reported hearing yelling from the property. Officers found Mr. Gunn's mutilated body next to Ms. Georgopoulos's. It is alleged Mr. Gunn's decapitated head was placed on a spike.
Judd was arrested hours later at a nearby railway station. Investigators are working to establish the connection and motive, with previous court statements from Judd suggesting the murders were related to a stolen dog and money.
Ms. Georgopoulos was four months pregnant at the time of her alleged murder. Her mother expressed profound grief, lamenting the loss of her daughter and granddaughter.
