Couple's Neglect Leads to Shih-Tzu Deaths
4 Aug
Summary
- Couple banned from owning dogs after neglect.
- One Shih-Tzu starved to death, another euthanized.
- RSPCA investigated animal welfare offenses.

Michael William Buckle, 54, and Amy Roseberry-Buckle, 42, both from Stroud, have been permanently banned from owning dogs. This severe penalty follows their conviction for animal welfare offenses. The couple's neglect led to the deaths of their two Shih-Tzus, named Daisy and Holly.
An investigation by the RSPCA was launched on January 9, 2025. This occurred after the pair presented Daisy, who was already deceased, at a Gloucester veterinary practice for cremation. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed Daisy had no body fat and likely died from starvation. Holly, another of their Shih-Tzus, had collapsed due to extreme emaciation and was euthanized at the same veterinary practice just a few days prior.
The convictions highlight the critical importance of responsible pet ownership and the devastating consequences of neglect. The disqualification aims to prevent future suffering of animals under the couple's care.
