Doctor Suspended For Privacy Breach
5 Jun
Summary
- Doctor suspended for eight months by CPSO for privacy breaches.
- Accessed and transferred 146 patients' private health records.
- Conducted premeditated actions for personal financial gain.

Dr. Afandi, a doctor from the Windsor area, has received an eight-month suspension from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). This disciplinary action stems from multiple breaches of patient media records, which the CPSO deemed disgraceful and unprofessional conduct. Between April 18 and May 7, 2024, Dr. Afandi accessed the personal health information of 146 patients. He did this using a medical records system shared among four southwestern Ontario hospitals.
This access was found to be for the purpose of soliciting patients for his partially-owned private clinic, WE Kidz Pediatrics. He transferred the sensitive data to his personal cellphone to contact patients for his own financial gain, an act described as premeditated. Consequently, his medical registration was suspended, effective June 5, 2026, preventing him from practicing medicine in Ontario. He was also ordered to pay $6,000 in costs to the CPSO.
