Doctor Murders Couple for Valuables, Uses Anesthesia
21 Jan
Summary
- An ayurvedic doctor arrested for murdering his elderly relatives.
- The doctor administered an overdose of anesthesia to the couple.
- The motive for the murder was to steal the couple's valuables.

An elderly couple, Chandrappa, 75, and Jayamma, 65, were found dead in their Bhadravati residence on January 20. Shivamogga Police quickly apprehended their relative, 44-year-old ayurvedic doctor Dr. G.P. Mallesh, within 24 hours of the crime.
Dr. Mallesh confessed that he murdered his uncle and aunt to steal their valuables, as he was deeply in debt. He visited them on January 19, offering to treat their varicose veins, and administered a severe overdose of propofol, a general anesthetic. A dosage of 50mg each, far exceeding the usual 1-2mg for surgery, proved fatal.
The lack of forced entry suggested the perpetrator was known to the victims. Police took Dr. Mallesh into custody on January 20, where he admitted to the crime motivated by financial gain. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the anesthesia and assess the stolen valuables.
