Doctor Wins Payout After Bullying Claim
28 Feb
Summary
- Doctor awarded over £16,500 after being dismissed.
- Dismissal followed bullying claims against a colleague.
- Tribunal found unfair treatment after whistleblowing.

Dr. Anna Williams has been awarded more than £16,500 in compensation after her dismissal from the Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service (LIVES). The Horncastle-based medical charity terminated her employment in February 2024, following a disciplinary investigation that concluded she had bullied a colleague. Dr. Williams contested her dismissal, making nine claims against the charity. An employment tribunal, held in October 2025, found that while LIVES was justified in dismissing her, her conduct did not constitute gross misconduct. The tribunal upheld two of Dr. Williams' claims: that she faced unfair treatment after reporting safety concerns and that she was wrongfully dismissed without notice. Employment judge Kimbra Welch stated that some compensation should reflect Dr. Williams' distress. The awarded compensation includes £8,503.32 for wrongful dismissal and £8,000 for injury to feelings. LIVES described the upheld complaints as "legal technicalities" and expressed contentment that the majority of the judgement favoured them, allowing them to focus on their life-saving mission.
