In September 2024, a 63-year-old Texas woman named Stacey Dramiga was reported missing after failing to return home from a walk. Her body was later found in a park, and authorities determined she had been brutally beaten, sexually assaulted, and partially burned.
Over a year later, in October 2025, a major break in the case occurred. Authorities revealed that DNA evidence collected from the crime scene matched that of 23-year-old Samuel Aquim Charon, who had been arrested in April 2025 on unrelated charges. A second DNA sample confirmed the match, leading to Charon's arrest for capital murder and tampering with a human corpse.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar described Charon as a "monster" and said he showed no emotion when confronted with evidence from the grisly crime scene. Investigators believe Charon attacked Dramiga while she was on the trail, forcing her further into the woods before allegedly killing her.
