A registered dietician, Aiwanehi Aigbokhaevbo, has been struck off the UK professional register following her dishonest use of artificial intelligence during a remote NHS job interview. The interview for an oncology dietician role at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in March 2024 took place via Microsoft Teams while Miss Aigbokhaevbo was in Nigeria.
During the interview, she exhibited notable hesitation and repeated questions when faced with clinical inquiries. This allowed her time to input questions into ChatGPT and articulate 'textbook' answers, a stark contrast to her spontaneous responses to personal questions. Interviewers observed her eyes moving side-to-side, suggesting she was reading from a screen.
Following the interview, a subsequent case study also appeared to be completed using AI, with answers deemed too detailed and perfect. Miss Aigbokhaevbo denied the allegations, claiming her question repetition was a 'reflex' and her glances were to check her Wi-Fi. However, the tribunal found her responses inconsistent and concluded her fitness to practise was impaired due to dishonesty and a lack of remorse.
