An Atlanta dentist, identified as 73-year-old David Mays, has been arrested and charged with murder. The charges stem from a fatal shooting that occurred at his dental office, located on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW. Police reported that Mays allegedly confronted an unhoused man he observed on surveillance cameras at the apparently long-closed dental practice.
An exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the death of the man, believed to be 37 years old. The victim, whose identity has not yet been officially released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that the deceased was known to police. Mays has been booked into the Fulton County Jail on charges including murder and aggravated assault.
