Delhi Traffic Police have begun trials of handheld laser speed guns along the NH-44 corridor, specifically at the Libaspur Bus Stand. This recent enforcement effort, which included testing five devices and issuing 151 challans, targets high-risk and high-speed zones across the city.
The Libaspur area, a busy industrial zone with significant commercial vehicle traffic, has been identified as a crash hotspot. Between 2018 and 2023, 68 road accidents, including 28 fatal incidents, were reported in this vicinity.
The new laser speed cameras, donated by the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS), will enable precise detection of vehicles exceeding speed limits.
