As of 2025-11-16T12:54:49+00:00, Delhi Police have been intensifying their crackdown on landlords who fail to comply with mandatory tenant verification procedures. According to the latest figures, the police have been booking nearly 15 property owners every day for this violation.
In total, the police have registered 4,650 cases against landlords under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for "disobeying a lawful order from a public servant" by the end of October. The enforcement drive has uncovered widespread negligence, with many landlords either unaware of the requirement or deliberately choosing not to furnish tenant details.
