Tragedy struck in east Delhi's Shashi Garden early Wednesday when a 28-year-old man, Deepak, was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute over a bidi. The incident led to the arrest of Manoj, a 32-year-old barber residing in the same locality.
According to police, the argument between Deepak and Manoj, both local residents, began over a bidi and rapidly escalated into a physical confrontation. Deepak sustained severe injuries to his forehead and face, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
This fatal incident is the latest in a series of violent altercations stemming from minor disputes over bidis in Delhi. Previous occurrences include a similar death in northeast Delhi in June, and two other fatalities in May and April related to refusals or requests for bidis.
