A man in southwest Delhi has been detained for allegedly murdering his wife, Sarita, with a tawa after a domestic dispute that occurred around midnight on Saturday. The accused, 48-year-old Dinesh Patel, reportedly arrived at the Baba Haridass Nagar police station on Sunday morning to confess to the crime.
Dinesh Patel claims he has been receiving treatment for schizophrenia for the past two to three years, a fact police are currently verifying. Investigators stated that the couple, married since 2005, had been arguing frequently due to Dinesh's distress over their financial situation. He confessed to striking Sarita with a tawa during a heated argument on Saturday night.
Authorities confirmed that the couple's two sons were staying at their maternal grandmother's house at the time of the alleged incident. Forensic experts inspected the crime scene at the couple's residence in Gopal Nagar, Najafgarh, where Sarita's body was discovered. A case has been registered under the relevant murder section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is ongoing.
