Cop's Gun Used in Girlfriend's Suicide After Argument

A head constable with the Delhi Police was arrested on Friday after his girlfriend allegedly died by suicide using his service pistol. The incident unfolded late Thursday night in a Greater Noida West flat following an argument. The 34-year-old woman, identified as Priya Singh, succumbed to a gunshot wound.

According to preliminary reports, the constable, Ashish Pawar, brought Singh to Yatharth Hospital. Pawar, who is married but reportedly seeking divorce, had been in a relationship with Singh for five years and they had been living together for three months. The argument reportedly escalated at a party when Pawar received a call from his wife, leading to a dispute with Singh.

Singh allegedly retreated to her flat and shot herself with Pawar's licensed pistol. Pawar then transported her to the hospital and attempted to flee but was apprehended by police through technical surveillance. Singh's family has lodged a complaint, alleging Pawar misled Singh about his marital status and pressured her. Pawar has been arrested on charges including abetment of suicide and under the Arms Act.
