A 30-year-old businessman faces arrest in southwest Delhi's Bhikaji Cama Place for allegedly driving his car at high speed and colliding with a minivan, which led to five women sustaining injuries. The collision, which happened on November 23, left the minivan severely damaged and sent the injured women to the hospital.
Authorities identified the offending vehicle as an SUV with a non-functional headlight by reviewing CCTV footage. Information from a local resident, who noticed a Saket resident's damaged car early on the incident day, led police to the suspect, Chanakya Sankla. Sankla, a marketing postgraduate, admitted to speeding home after dining out.
He confessed to hitting the minivan and then driving for about 10 kilometers with his damaged car, including a compromised right side and tire, to evade immediate apprehension. Sankla later took the vehicle to a workshop in Okhla Phase 1, where it was subsequently seized by law enforcement.
