DeBarge Brothers Arrested on Drug Charges

R&B stars James and Chico DeBarge, members of the famed DeBarge musical family, were arrested on drug charges in Burbank, California. The arrests occurred on August 27 around 11:30 p.m. following a traffic stop for vehicle code violations. Police reportedly found drugs at the scene. James DeBarge, 63, was allegedly driving a vehicle with no license plates, while Chico DeBarge, 60, was inside a towed SUV. Both brothers were arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance; Chico also faced an outstanding warrant. Their family group, DeBarge, achieved fame in the 1980s. James DeBarge's past marriage to Janet Jackson was noted, with Jackson recalling his alleged drug use as a reason for their divorce.
