Warped Dealer Jailed for Life Over Arson Deaths
19 Feb
Summary
- Dealer jailed for life with a minimum of 25 years for arson.
- Two pensioners died in the fire, with the intended target being their son.
- Dealer showed no remorse, laughing and smiling during sentencing.

Kevin Weetman, 34, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 25 years for plotting an arson attack that killed two pensioners, Sheila Jackson, 83, and Eric Greener, 77. The fire occurred at their home in St Helens, Merseyside, on July 15, 2025. The intended target of the arson was Mrs. Jackson's son, George, who had refused to deal drugs for Weetman.
During his sentencing on February 15, 2026, Weetman displayed a disturbing lack of remorse, continuing to laugh and smile, prompting a heated exchange with the victims' family. The judge described Weetman as a "man with an entirely warped moral code" and "extremely violent and dangerous." Weetman's criminal history dates back to when he was 12, including an incident at 15 where he injured a police officer.
Co-accused Kylie Maynard received 23 years, and Lee Owens was sentenced to 13 and a half years for their involvement in the manslaughter. The court heard that Weetman initiated the plan, enlisting Maynard, Owens, and another individual, Paul Smith (who has since died), to carry out the arson. The prosecution alleged that Weetman's motive was to punish George Jackson for not complying with his demands, leading to the tragic deaths of the innocent pensioners.
